Time and distance

So it's true that time and distance really can enable deep pain to be borne more easily. Coppelia's life these days is full of so many good things and good people. This very different life suits her, and she has flourished with space and freedom to try and start again. Survival.

Coppelia now sees how it came down to just two options. Pine for him, mourn for what can never be, or draw on all her energies and all that was still good in her life, and make a life without him.

She still often remembers their days together, their plans, all those memories that are as much a part of her as her own blood. They still spend time together, may even have a short walking holiday together later this year.

But that is all it will ever be now. A great distance between them, and Coppelia's hopes and dreams belong to a different time.
